Build a bridge between university and community.

Undergraduate and graduate students learn to teach. Youth experience hands-on science from their neighbors. Regardless of your position in academia, you can start this partnership!

Our First Lego League team: The Marillac Robotians

The Robotians competed in two FLL tourneys: 2017: took home the Rookie Team Award;

2018: scored 110 points in their robot challenge round (4th out of all teams competing)!

Our Partnership with the Boys and Girls Club

In the Summer of 2016, we began an ongoing series of monthly experiments with our neighbors in the Near West Side - the James Jordan Boys and Girls Club. Experiments have included molecular modeling, making liquid nitrogen ice cream, and launching air and chemical powered bottle rockets! Several other programs exist in the Chicago area, paticularly one at Northwestern University (Science Club) that focuses on teaching STEM concepts through the establishment of long-term mentoring.

The greatest barrier to a partnership is the first step: reaching out.
